Non-Surgical Approach to Reshaping Your Face
Are you ready for a more youthful appearance? Injectable dermal fillers such as JUVÉDERM® XC and Restylane Silk® and volume fillers such as JUVÉDERM® VOLUMA™ XC are great, non-surgical solutions to address facial lines or to fill the facial hollows that lead to a tired, aged look. Webb Aesthetic Medical Spa prides itself on providing some of the most natural results that injectable fillers can provide. Our well-trained artistic injectors are here to assist you in revisiting your youth or even to restore facial balance.
You will notice from our list below that we carry only a select few filler products. As with any medical spa, Webb Aesthetic has access to all fillers on the market. Over the years, Dr. Webb has seen many fillers come in and out of favor—some because of a lack of longevity or effectiveness, and others because of adverse reactions. Our dermal and volume fillers share a common bond in that they are all hyaluronic acid based. The hyaluronic acid in these products is almost identical to the same substance found in all of your cells and is, therefore, almost universally accepted without adverse reaction. Additionally, our injectors are well-versed on using these few fillers to address a myriad of anatomical issues.
Although dermal fillers cannot help with excess sagging skin, they can add more volume and provide immediate results at a lower cost than surgery. These treatments are not permanent, however, and they must be repeated and maintained. JUVÉDERM® XC can be used in conjunction with other skin rejuvenation treatments, such as injections of Botox. We will be happy to discuss further options available to you for this procedure.
JUVÉDERM® XC is a smooth, hyaluronic acid dermal gel filler used to soften facial creases and wrinkles, enhance lips, or restore youthful fullness to your face. JUVÉDERM® XC is the only dermal filler that is FDA approved to treat moderate to severe fine lines around the mouth and nose in patients 18 years of age or older. One treatment can last up to one year.
Restylane Silk® is the first and only FDA-approved dermal filler designed specifically for the lips. It allows for subtle lip enhancement and smoothing of fine lip lines and wrinkles. Restylane Silk® is formulated with smaller, less viscous particles, allowing for smooth and even results in the delicate perioral tissues and lips. It is injected into the submucosal and dermal plane in the lips of patients over the age of 21 for correction that, on average, lasts 6 to 9 months.
JUVÉDERM® VOLUMA™ XC
JUVÉDERM® VOLUMA XC injectable gel is the first and only filler FDA approved to add volume to the cheek area. This is a hyaluronic acid filler approved for use to subtly restore a younger-looking, lifted look to the cheek and eye area. It can last for up to 2 years, helping with both fine lines and moderate wrinkles.
Frequently Asked Questions Related to Injectable Fillers
What are cosmetic fillers?
Aging leads to loss of collagen and elasticity within the skin, causing deep folds, concavities or hollows, and facial sagging. Cosmetic fillers are biocompatible, injectable gels that reduce facial lines and add volume to areas to reduce the signs of aging. When expertly injected into the tissues of the face, results may last from 6 months to 2 years, depending on the product and skill of the injector. Many clients enjoy a more youthful look by filling in the folds around the mouth, restoring cheek height, refreshing lips, and filling temporal hollows or any other facial area that has lost volume.
What are dermal fillers?
Dermal fillers such as Juvederm XC are used to treat moderate to severe facial lines and wrinkles and are injected into the deepest layer of the skin (dermis). Restylane Silk® is also injected into the deepest layer of the skin (dermis) to treat fine to moderate lines around the mouth as well as into the submucosal layer to add smooth, subtle volume to the lips.
What are volume (deeper) fillers?
Volume fillers such as JUVEDERM VOLUMA XC are highly cross-linked fillers injected into the layers beneath the skin, either the subcutaneous plane or just superficial to the periosteum. Juvederm Voluma is optimally used to restore volume and provide a subtle lift to the cheek area that may last up to 2 years.
What anatomical areas can be treated?
At Webb Aesthetic Medical Spa, we routinely treat fine lines and wrinkles of the entire face, nasolabial folds (deeper folds on the sides of the nose), marionette lines (vertical lines on the corners of the mouth), and vertical lip lines. We are also well versed in adding volume to the temples, cheeks, and lips.
What does the XC mean in JUVEDERM XC?
The XC indicates the addition of lidocaine for added comfort during the injection.
What is the difference between JUVEDERM XC Ultra and JUVEDERM XC Ultra Plus?
They are virtually identical, except for the viscosity of the gel. Dr. Webb prefers to use the more viscous Ultra Plus in more stable areas such as the nasolabial folds and occasionally to add volume in the same manner as Juvederm Voluma. He prefers to utilize the less viscous Juvederm XC Ultra to alleviate fine to moderate marionette lines (corners of the mouth) and to add volume to the lips in the same manner as Restylane Silk®. However, it is mostly due simply to the comfort level of the provider performing the injections and what products they are accustomed to using.
Are the treatments painful?
Over the years, Dr. Webb has transitioned from dental blocks with lidocaine to topical anesthetic, using a combination of several different numbing compounds that work extremely well. Most patients tolerate the injections with minimal to no discomfort.
How long do treatments last?
Restylane Silk – 6 months to 9 months
Juvederm XC – 9 to 12 months
Juvederm XC Voluma – 2 years
How is the cost determined?
The cost of each cosmetic filler is determined by syringe. Multiple syringe purchases lead to lower pricing per syringe. Additionally, your price can be lowered by sharing the package between friends and family.
Why not just go to the chain med spa that I see running ads on TV since they are cheaper?
Watch out for chain med spas that do not have a doctor on the premises and rely solely on advertisements rather than friend referrals to gain additional clients. Webb Aesthetic Medical Spa is owned by Shayne Webb, MD and his sister Jaclyn King, RN who take great pride in their results. A good practitioner has an eye for details, knows anatomy well, and can help you set the clock back several years. A bad practitioner can just set you back.
