Non-Surgical Solution to a Double Chin
The excess fat (submental fat) or sagging skin below the jaw and chin line is often referred to as a double chin. Since a double chin is often a result of a weight fluctuation or genetics, it is one of the most difficult areas of the body to target through just diet or exercise. Traditionally, the only way to get rid of that unwanted chin was surgically with liposuction. Thankfully, we now have a non-surgical treatment known as Kybella, an FDA-approved drug created to permanently define and contour the jaw as well as the chin line.
Benefits of using Kybella include:
- Kybella® utilizes a molecule that occurs naturally in the body.
- The procedure takes place over several sessions, approx. 20 minutes.
- Results are gradual, making it look completely natural.
- Kybella® treatment is permanent.
How Kybella Works
Kybella® is an FDA-approved injection made up of deoxycholic acid, which breaks down the targeted fat cells. Our Murfreesboro plastic surgeon or nurse injector will inject the Kybella into your neck area, destroying the fat cells and their ability to accumulate fat. Because the number of fat cells stays approximately the same throughout our adult lives, this procedure’s results are permanent. Your fat cells will not grow back.
Kybella might be right for you if:
- You are bothered by a double chin.
- You eat well and excercise, but your double chin will not go away.
- Surgery is not an option for you.
- You need a permanent solution to a double chin.
What to Expect
Kybella treatments are customized for every patient, depending on their body. In your consultation, you will discuss whether you are a good candidate for the procedure and what plan will give you the results you are hoping to see. You can expect 2 to 4 treatments, which will be spaced out approximately 6-8 weeks apart. Each session consists of 20-30 injections under the chin. A topical anesthetic will be applied to keep the injections from being too uncomfortable. You may temporarily experience minor bruising, swelling, or hardness in the area of injection, but the beautiful results of the treatments will be permanent.
