Smooth Away Tell-Tale Lines

Webb Aesthetic Medical Spa is your destination for a professional Botox provider. Dr. Webb has been performing Botox since it was approved in the U.S. for cosmetic purposes. Over the years, he has traded Botox injection strategies with many physicians and nurse injectors whom he has trained with. Dr. Webb personally trains his nurse injectors according to both his own techniques and to that of Tennessee’s standard certification process for nurse injectors. In addition to this expert training, Dr. Webb and his staff stay abreast of the latest research and practices.

Like Botox, Dysport is a type of Botulinum Toxin Type A and has been available in the U.S. since 2009. Both Botox and Dysport are similar in action and can be used to achieve the same impact on eliminating fine lines of the face. Though there is still some debate on which is better, Dr. Webb has used both for several years and feels there is virtually no difference between Botox and Dysport in the hands of an experienced injector. In fact, in double-blind studies, most injectors were unable to tell the difference between the two.

Frequently Asked Questions Related to Botox and Dysport

How do Botox and Dysport work to improve your appearance?

Facial wrinkles are produced by many complex factors that accentuate as we age. One of these factors is the repeated contraction of facial muscles leading to creases or indentations within the underlying layers of the skin. Botox Cosmetic is a purified protein produced by the Clostridium botulinum bacteria. When a small amount of Botox is injected into a muscle, it blocks nerve signals that tell your muscles to contract. The effect is a temporary weakening of the facial muscles, resulting in smoothing and even eliminating these facial expression wrinkles. The entire treatment is usually finished in less than 10 minutes and requires no downtime.

What areas can be treated with Botox and Dysport?

Most providers use Botox and Dysport to treat forehead lines, the lines between the eyes (glabella), and crow’s feet. At Webb Aesthetic Medical Spa, we also treat bunny lines (lines along the sides of the nose), lip depressors (the muscles that cause a downturned mouth), platysma bands (the muscles that cause vertical neck bands), and vertical lines along the lips.

Are Dysport and Botox safe?

The toxin has been studied since the 1960s and became FDA approved for cosmetic purposes in 2002. Though Dysport was approved by the FDA more recently, both are given in such small doses that when administered by a properly trained provider, Botox and Dysport are extremely safe.

When can I expect to see results from Botox Cosmetic and Dysport?

Muscle relaxation can usually be seen within 48 hours. However, relaxation of the overlying skin may take one to two weeks to allow deeper wrinkles to fully relax.

How long do results of Botox Cosmetic last?

For the first few treatments, results usually last 3 months. As more treatments are performed, the results usually persist a little longer.

At what age do I need to start using Botox or Dysport?

There is no set age. If you are experiencing fine lines or wrinkles or wish to prevent them, Botox and Dysport are safe and effective for any person who wishes to ward off the signs of aging.

Why do some patients look like they have had a treatment, while others look more natural after a Botox or Dysport treatment?

Injections of high doses or poorly placed injection sites can cause an unnatural, frozen appearance to one’s face. At our Medical Spa, we make every attempt to use the least amount necessary to allow you to obtain the result you want. Unless you request otherwise, Dr. Webb and his staff make every attempt to leave you with some amount of natural movement to the forehead and brows so you do not experience this frozen look.

How is the cost determined?

Over the years, Dr. Webb has tried several strategies when determining the price point. Some providers break this up into regions such as the forehead, glabella, or crow’s feet. Though this makes things easier for the injector, the price is not always fair for the patient. For some patients, this results in a reasonable rate, while for others, they pay extra per unit with this strategy. We charge by the unit. Therefore, you never pay extra for what you do not need. Additionally, Dr. Webb and his staff are very adept at finding the minimum amount of Botox or Dysport that provides a great result.
